Postal Card 3 x 5 inches, in good condition. Florence, November 1880. Sir Alexander Campbell Mackenzie (1847–1935), composer, violinist and conductor. In his day Mackenzie was regarded as the finest ever Scottish musician, and many of his programmatic works are based on Scottish subjects, but his music is cosmopolitan in style and somewhat old-fashioned for its period, displaying influences of French and German composers, including Bizet, Gounod, Schumann, and Wagner.[ODNB]
