Autograph Letter Signed, to ‘Dear Francis’, about Madame Ristori and ‘Gye’ (Madame Albani?), commenting, “Why is not Sala here to give us some delicious ravings in her honour?” 1½ pages, in good condition, remains of guard. Critic Office, 22 July 1856. James Lowe (d.1865), journalist and translator, editor of The Critic (1843-63), and one of the first members of the Savage Club.
