Original Medieval Charter recording the sale of land in Tonge and Bredon by John Kyrkeby of Leicester to the Bosworth family, being “all lands and tenements crofts rents reversions and services with the meadows pastures and appurtenances whatsoever …”, with the names of the witnesses. On vellum in a most attractive script, with a complete typed English translation (300 words) from the Latin, 5 x 10 inches, with a red wax seal (initial R). 11 October 1456. “Given at Leycestre the eleventh day of the month of October the thirty fifth year of the reign of King Henry the Sixth after the Conquest of England” [1456]. Tonge is a hamlet in Breedon-on-the-Hill parish, Leicestershire, 6 miles NE of Ashby-de-la-Zouch.
