Autograph Letter Signed, thanking his correspondent for the “Tract on the mustard tree and Hyssop of scripture”, suggesting residence in Palestine to visit the surrounding countries, discussing the works of Celsius, including a few Arabic words in this letter, mentioning his own Arab lexicon. 2½ pp. 7 x 4 inches, in good condition. Trinity College Cambridge, 15 May 1845. Samuel Lee (1783-1852), English orientalist, author of the Hebrew, Chaldaic and English Lexicon (1840). In 1823 he edited Sir William Jones’s Persian Grammar. “It surely is a disgrace to us that a young oriental … should supply knowledge to us, which really is in our own power to get very easily.”
