Autograph Letter Signed, to Davies Gilbert in Eastbourne, stating that the price of two guineas for the drawing “is ample remuneration for the two hours which were occupied in its execution.” 1¼ pages 9 x 7 inches, integral address leaf (torn at seal opening), neat title label affixed. From the Enys Collection. 24 South Bank, St. John’s Wood, 13 December 1834. Richard James Lane (1800 – 1872), was a prolific Victorian engraver and lithographer. The National Portrait Gallery has some 850 lithographs of his portraits and figure studies, done between 1825 and 1850. Davies Gilbert (1767–1839), scientific administrator and applied mathematician, who chaired numerous parliamentary committees, drafting and shepherding many items of legislation.
