Autograph Letter Signed ‘Yours with the greatest respect & gratitude, Saml. Joseph’, addressed “My dear Madam”, discussing autographs, and disclosing that he has received “a commission to work a marble Bust of the late Mr. Wilberforce”. 1 page 9 x 7 inches, with a few words and signature overleaf, integral blank leaf (corner torn), paper toned. 5 August 1835. Samuel Joseph (d.1850), sculptor, known for his bust of William Wilberforce in Westminster Abbey. “Mr Ferguson I am sure will be pleased to hear that Lord Calthorpe has been with me again, and given me a commission to work a marble Bust of the late Mr. Wilberforce.”
