A lengthy Autograph Letter Signed, to Mr. Wright, at Messrs. Whitehead and Co. in Fleet Street, about the delay in the printing of The Angler’s Manual, asking for an explanation of “this unaccountable delay and disappointment”, and raising the question of payment and signed copies. 2 pp. 10 x 8 inches, in good condition, some light dust soiling, integral address leaf. 9 January 1839. Thomas Christopher Hofland (1777-1843), landscape painter. He was a keen angler and in 1839 published the illustrated work, The British Angler’s Manual., of which a second enlarged edition was published in 1848, with a memoir of the author by his son, Thomas Richard Hofland.
