Found with a small portrait photograph, probably of Hare. Hurstmonceaux, Hurst Green, 1849. Julius Charles Hare (1795-1855), theological writer. Gutzlaff “is come to Europe in the hope that he may find fifty or sixty Europeans to engage in the mighty work of converting the Chinese Empire with its population of near four hundred millions of human souls …”
