A lengthy Autograph Letter Signed, to Pierre Hippolyte Boutigny (professor of chemistry in Evreux) in Paris, discussing geological phenomena and related scientific matters. In Italian. About 700 words on 3 pp. 10 x 8 inches, with the address panel. Lodi, 25 August 1850. Paolo Gorini (1813-1881), Italian scientist. In 1871 he published Sull’origine del vulcani (“On the Origin of Volcanoes”). He studied the preservation of organic matter, and in 1872 he became famous for the embalming of the bodies of Giuseppe Mazzini and Giuseppe Rovani. In 1878, he was commissioned by the Cremation Society of Great Britain to construct the cremator at Woking Crematorium.
