Warrant Signed ‘George R.I.’ by King George VI, addressed to ‘the Governor of Our Prison at Wormwood Scrubs’ pardoning and remitting the remainder of a prison sentence to Albert Edwin Cole, who was imprisoned for a year for an offence against the National Service Act on 4 June 1943. Countersigned by Herbert Morrison, Home Secretary. 2 pp. 13 x 8 inches, impressed seal upper left. In fine condition. Our Court at St James’s, 10 July 1943. A fine wartime warrant signed by King George VI (reigned 1936-1952). Herbert Morrison (1888-1965) was home secretary and minister for home security in Winston Churchill’s wartime cabinet. Section 4(2) imposed penalties for failure to appear for a call up medical when summoned.
