York Cottage, Sandringham, Norfolk, 29 August 1893. King George V (reigned 1910-1935). Sir Francis de Winton (1835-1901), Comptroller and Treasurer of the household of the Prince of Wales. “Please endeavour to keep functions as short as possible, & have everything cut & dried, & remember that I much prefer addresses to speeches, & therefore try & avoid the latter whenever you can. As regards the 7th we should prefer the function in East End of London not taking place till the 9th Monday in the morning, as we must have a little rest & we shall have had a pretty good week of it.”
