Alessandro Gavazzi (1809-89), former monk, evangelical convert, Italian patriot and head of the Italian protestants in London, army chaplain with Garibaldi (1860). From an albun compiled by Leone Levi (1821–1888), jurist, political economist, and statistician, author of the History of British Commerce (1872).
