Autograph Letter Signed, to Mr. Galle, saying that he has seen Burnet and described to him ‘The sketch of the School after Ostade’, and that Burnet has confirmed it is one of the sketches he made in the Louvre in 1814. 1 page 8 x 5 inches, in good condition. 12 Sloane Street, 25 April 1842. Charles Fox (1794-1849), engraver. He worked in the studio of John Burnet, who was at that time engaged in engraving some of Wilkie’s principal works, and assisted Burnet in their completion. When John Lindley was appointed secretary of the Horticultural Society, Fox was chosen as a judge and arbitrator for the its prizes. He also executed all the engravings for a periodical called The Florist.
