On an irregular oblong half sheet 4 x 10 inches. Undated. John Foster (1770–1843), Baptist minister and essayist, author of Essays in a Series of Letters to a Friend (1805), On the Evils of Popular Ignorance (1820), and other works. After 1806 Foster was a regular contributor to the Eclectic Review. He hopes “a sufficient number of our readers will like a turn of amusement; content to have less of grave matters in the Number for once; and that other workmen will not be violent in their complaints …”
