Autograph Letter Signed, discussing a subject for illustration, having difficulty with “the Chaldean Shepherd”, rejecting the suggestion of “the astronomy”, giving his reasons – with a small sketch of a star and a crescent moon – and asking for further instructions. 2½ pages 7 x 4½ inches, one small stain, in very good condition. Tuesday, undated. Myles Birket Foster (1825-1899), artist and illustrator. Birket Foster was the most celebrated Victorian watercolour painter of rustic scenes. He painted in a stippled technique with great technical skill.
