Letter Signed, during his period of imprisonment at Santiago, to John Philippart, Military Library, Whitehall, thanking him for the proof of his biographical entry, but preferring complete silence about himself at this moment, to avoid public censure, because blind submission to his beloved Sovereign is the only course available to him now. José Vazquez de Figueroa (1770-1855), Spanish naval officer who became Minister of the Navy in 1813 and again in 1816, when he tried to improve and reform the navy. In 1818 he was imprisoned at Santiago de Compostela. He resumed the Navy portfolio in 1834-35.
