Cheltenham, 31 December 1828. Sir Arthur Brooke Faulkner M.D. (1779-1845), Irish physician to the forces, served on the staff in Spain, Holland, Sicily and Malta (where he introduced quarantine measures against the plague in 1813), and published works of continental travel. In 1810 he published a tract, ‘Considerations on the Expediency of Establishing an Hospital for Officers on Foreign Service’.
