Description

Bond for the Payment of First-Fruits to the Exchequer by the Rector of Halwill, Devon. Signed by Willoughby Stambury and Robert Davis. Vellum, 8 x 10 inches, light dampstaining, minor defects, of good appearance. 8 March 1763. Offered with two pages of a full typed description and transcript, with historical notes. Halwill lies between Okehampton and Holsworthy in the north of the county of Devon. To the right of the signatures, where two seals would have been, a small strip of parchment has been cut away, probably as a formal act of cancellation on the discharge of the bond.
