CORSINI CORRESPONDENCE. Venice to Florence, 1600. 20889

£250

Description

A commercial letter from Lorenzo Alessandro Strozzi, addressed to Bartolomeo Corsini in Florence, bearing a good example of the Merchant Mark of the Strozzi Family, the Italian merchant bankers. In Italian, 12 lines on 1 page, 12 x 8 inches, folded, in very good clean condition. Venice, 29 January 1600. In the 1980s the auction house Robson Lowe held a number of auctions of late sixteenth century correspondence sent to the Corsini family, the Florentine merchants. A proportion of these letters bear Merchant Guild Marks, evidence of the efficient European postal system set up by the merchant families.
