Autograph Letter Signed ‘A.C.Corbould’, to Mr.Burnand, incorporating an original signed cartoon of Receiving Day at the Royal Academy in 1894, called ‘A Fact’. 2 pp. 7 x 4½ inches, folds, in good condition, traces of former mounting. 8 Pembroke Road, Kensington, 4 April 1894. Alfred Chantrey Corbould (1852-1920), artist and illustrator, studied with his uncle Charles Keene, who introduced him to Punch, where much of his work was published. His correspondent is Sir Francis C.Burnand (1836-1917), author, editor of Punch.The cartoon shows a porter receiving a canvas from an artist. ‘R.A.Porter to Stodge, delivering his Picture: “ ‘stonishing lot o Rubbish sent in this year Sir. Moo’ damaging to th’ [h]eys Sir.”’
