Autograph Letter Signed ‘Geo. Combe’, [to Mr. Parry] about his visit to Bristol, his lectures, offering “as many autographs as your young ladies desire to possess, thanking his correspondent for the offer of accommodation in Bath. 2 pp. 8 x 5 inches, in good condition. 17 York Street, 13 April, no year given. George Combe (1788-1858), phrenologist. In 1819 in 1819 his essays were collected into a book entitled Essays in Phrenology. In 1824 Combe published a further volume: A System of Phrenology. Between 1838 and 1840 Combe toured Canada and the United States, seeking to propagate his views by lecturing and by establishing links with like-minded reformers.
