Charles Caleb Colton (1780-1832), author of ‘Lacon, or many Things in a few Words addressed to those who think’ (1820, frequently reprinted), unwilling divine, sportsman, wine merchant, writer, eccentric, gambler and suicide. His published works include Remarks Critical and Moral on the Talents of Lord Byron (1819).
