Autograph Letter Signed, to Miss Lennox, explaining that he has not been able to find the time to complete and return her ‘book of Likes & Dislikes”, with the further excuse that he decided to complete the task in verse, not prose, but “my somewhat sleepy muse” brought a result larger than the space allowed in the book. 12 pp. 5½ x 3½ inches, fine. Hertford Street, 23 January 1862. Sir Alexander James Edmund Cockburn QC (1802 –1880), Scottish jurist and politician who served as the Lord Chief Justice for 21 years. A notorious womaniser and socialite, he heard some of the leading causes célèbres of the nineteenth century.
