Letter Signed, as Minister of Posts and Telegraphs, to Monsieur Boutigny at Evreux, responding to his enquiry about the use of the local station for parcel post, explaining the current system and the plans for the extension of this service. In French. 3 pp. 10½ x 8½ inches, in good condition, two minor paper repairs. Paris, 27 September 1881. Adolphe Cochery (1819-1900), French politician, Minister of Posts and Telegraphs. He chaired the Congress of the Postal Union in Paris in 1878, founded the Graduate School of Telegraphy (forerunner of today’s National School of Telecommunications), was responsible for the International Exhibition of Electricity (Paris 1881), and chaired the first Conference for the Protection of submarine cables.
