Autograph Letter Signed, to “Dear Sir Mountstuart”, on an Indian political matter. 2 pp. 7 x 4 inches, dusty at centre fold. 132 Sutherland Avenue, Maida Vale, 4 November 1900. Major-General Sir Owen Tudor Burne (1837-1909) served in the Crimea and in the Indian Mutiny where he was present in fifteen actions including the siege and capture of Lucknow. In 1876-77 Burne was Private Secretary to Lord Lytton, Viceroy of India. “Personally, I am still of opinion that we should do wiser in 1901 to die quietly on a respectable deathbed of paid Bills.”
