Autograph Letter Signed, apologising for not writing, inviting Mr. Feu to “come up some evening & smoke the pipe of peace”. 2 pp. 8 x 5 inches, minor blemishes only, neat repair at centre fold. Embossed G.B. at head. 96 Fellows Road N,W., 19 November 1889. “I shall be ‘visible to the naked eye’ either Wednesday or Saturday.” Gordon Frederick Browne (1858-1932), artist and children’s book illustrator. He was born in Banstead, the younger son of notable book illustrator Hablot Knight Browne (“Phiz”). From the 1880s, Browne was one of Britain’s most prolific illustrators.
