Autograph Letter Signed ‘Charles Botta’, to M. Etienne, about submitting a list of his publications which might be sufficient to secure the Légion d’Honneur. In French. 1 page 9 x 7 inches, fold, his name inscribed by a collector at head, in good condition. Paris, 4 June 1832. Uncommon. Carlo Giuseppe Guglielmo Botta (1766-1837, Paris), Italian historian. In 1824 he published a history of Italy from 1789 to 1814 (4 vols.). He also wrote Storia della guerra dell’ Independenza d’America (1809), published in England and America as a History of the War of the Independence of the United States of America, Vols. I and II., by Charles Botta. This title, which went through many editions, was considered the most important history of the American Revolution in the early 19th century.
