Letter Signed, as Commander-in-Chief at Portsmouth, to Captain Robert Mitford, HMS Minstrel, informing him that the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty require him to “acquaint William Osborne, Ships Corporal on board the Minstrel, that his request to be discharged in payment of money or finding substitutes cannot be complied with.” 1 page 10 x 8 inches, in good condition. HMS Medway at Spithead, 30 July 1813. In 1801 Admiral Sir Richard Hussey Bickerton (1759-1832) conducted the blockade of Egypt. In 1803-1805 Bickerton was second in command to Nelson in the seas off Toulon.
