Autograph Letter Signed ‘J.M.Barrie’, to John Kidd, referring to his Thrums books and the central character, Tammas Haggart. 1 page 7 x 4 inches, with the original franked envelope, also in Barrie’s hand. Kirriemuir, 5 January 1891. An early letter by Sir James Barrie (1860-1937), author of Peter Pan (1904) and other plays. “I can send you either Thrums, & thank you for your kindly letter. Haggart is to be in a book by himself some day.” A Window in Thrums (1889) is a continuation of the Auld Licht series by J.M.Barrie. Tammas Haggart is a humorist, at much pains to understand and dispense the philosophy of his own humour.
