Autograph Letter Signed, to Mrs. Holman Hunt, explaining that he is obliged to avoid long journeys at night. 1 page 7 x 4½ inches, in good condition. 2 Upper Terrace, Hampstead, 6 May 1888. “How I wish I dare – but I daren’t.” Alfred Ainger (1837-1904), biographer and critic. He wrote memoirs of Thomas Hood and George Crabbe, but is best known for his biography of Charles Lamb and his edition of Lamb’s works in 6 volumes (1883-88).
